How To's - Computer

Be very careful not to open email from someone that you do not know, and even when you know the sending party, be careful about opening attachments… Many new viruses are sneaking around the world… A new variant is being sent with the subject ‘Hi’… So now is a good time to talk about things you should do…  Also, watch out for emails allegedly from email hosts with dangerous attachments....

  1. At least once a week (you can do it daily for better protection), you should download the new virus definitions for your anti-virus software.
  2. At least once a month, you should follow the attached instruction sheet on defragmenting your hard drive. (Click Here for Instruction Sheet)
  3. At least once a week, you should run a ‘Spyware’ detection program.
  4. You should always run a software Firewall (especially if you have a broadband connection, ie DSL or Cable Modem).
  5. At least Once a Week You Should check for Viruses and you should update your anti virus everyday.
